Dawson Mercer's parents, Charlotte and Craig, are both hard-working Canadians. Craig is a powerline technician, which involves the installation and maintenance of electrical power systems, while Charlotte manages a convenience store.
In addition to their professions, Craig also has a background in hockey. He coached in the Conception Bay North area of Canada and even had a tryout with the American Hockey League's St. John's Maple Leafs. It's possible that Craig's love for hockey influenced his children's interest in the sport.
Both of Mercer's younger siblings also play ice hockey. His brother is a goaltender, while his sister is a defenseman. His parents seem to have instilled a strong work ethic and love for hockey in their children. It has undoubtedly contributed to Mercer's success as a hockey player.
Dawson Mercer's family was present during his NHL debut game in 2021 for the New Jersey Devils. They added to the significance of the moment by witnessing his impressive play, where he hit the post and created an opportunity for a goal.
