Jason Robertson is a 23-year-old hockey player for the Dallas Stars in the National Hockey League (NHL). Robertson scored four points in the Dallas Stars' 5-1 win over the Nashville Predators on April 3, 2023, bringing his season total to 101. He became the first player in the franchise's history to record 100 points in a single season.
Also known by the moniker "Robo," Robertson hails from Arcadia, California. Robertson was born to Mercedes and Hugh Robertson on July 22, 1999. Jason is of Filipino descent and his mother Mercedes was born in Manila, who at the age of three migrated to the United States. While Jason's father Hugh is of Scottish descent.
Jason Roberston is the third Filipino-American player in NHL history. Jason has two brothers, the elder being Michael, and the younger being Nicolas Robertson, who plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Since their childhood, all three brothers have had a strong passion for the sport of hockey. Jason began playing hockey at the age of five. Jason's family decided to relocate to Northville, Michigan when he was ten years old, where he began to hone his hockey skills.
Jason Robertson began his hockey career in the minor leagues with teams such as Detroit AAA before moving on to the Greater Toronto Hockey League with the Don Mills Flyers. He also represented his participation in the 2015 OHL Cup.
Jason Robertson was selected for Phase 1 of the 2015 USHL draft by the Omaha Lancers. He, however, has committed to playing for the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Frontenacs. In the 2015 OHL Priority Selection draft, the Frontenacs selected him 62nd overall.
Robertson spent a total of five seasons in the OHL before moving to the AHL with the Texas Stars, where he had a brief stint in one season with the team. In 2017, the Dallas Stars selected Robertson 39th overall in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Jason Robertson's journey to the NHL
Robertson played for the Texas Stars in the 2019-20 AHL season. His career highlight came on February 13, 2020, when Dallas Stars called for him to replace the injured Alexander Radulov.
Robertson made his NHL debut during the Dallas Stas' 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs. As time passed, Roberston significantly improved his gameplay as a result of which he became a regular member of the Stars roster.
The 23-year-old star winger is currently playing in his fourth season in the NHL. During that span, Robertson has played 205 games and has managed to rack up 226 points via 101 goals and 125 assists. Jason Robertson has also won a bronze and a silver medal for the United States in his international career.
