Diving has enjoyed the status of an internationally recognized sport in the Olympic Games for a long time now. It involves jumping off from a platform and falling into water by performing acrobatics in the air. Notably, athletes participating in this sport are notable for their awareness of air, strength, flexibility and knowledge of self movement.
Looking back, Diving was first introduced as a sport in the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri, United States as “plain diving”. This was followed by the fancy diving with elastic boards at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, England. The 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm, Sweden saw participation in diving for the first time. Following this, plain diving and fancy diving were combined to form Highboard Diving at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Since then, the sport has only increased in popularity and various divisions have been added throughout the years. Dimitri Ivanovich Sautin of Russia is notable for winning eight medals in Olympic diving, the most medals between 1992 and 2008.
The 2024 Summer Olympics also has diving events for the athletes to participate and win medals.

Brief Discussion about each diving round
These are the different diving rounds in the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics -
The 3-metre springboard (men/women)
This round allows both the male and the female competitors to leap high into the air before performing acrobatics and falling into the water. The synchronized version depends on how well the teammates can match each other’s movements in the air before falling into the water.
The 10-metre platform (men/women)
This round allows the male and female competitors to make a high dive from a platform 10 metres above the water. In the case of synchronized events, the same rules are followed as the 3-metre springboard, i.e; the teammates matching each other’s movements well before falling into the water.
