The International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the supervising organization of the Olympic events throughout the world and the various National Olympic Committees (NOCs). Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, this is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1894 by Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelas.

The aim of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is to spread and promote Olympianism throughout the world. The members of the International Olympic Committee also represent the IOC and the Olympic Movement interests in their own countries. Under the presidency of Thomas Bach, the committee works to support youth in sports, prevent violence in sports and ensure there is fair play, encourage and support women to involve themselves more in sports, support the development of sports, and oppose commercial and political abuse of the Olympic sports. The International Olympic Committee is committed to upholding the spirit of Olympianism in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
