Femke Bol, the Dutch track and field athlete and the reigning world outdoor champion in the 400m hurdles, improved her indoor global mark twice consecutively. At the Dutch Indoor Athletics Championships in Apeldoorn, Bol clocked 49.24 to win the 400m hurdles title. Soon after, she lowered her time to 49.17s at the 2024 World Indoor Championships.

Three-time World champion Grant Holloway held the world indoor 60m hurdles record since 2021, having clocked 7.29s. But his performance at the 2024 USA Track & Field Indoor Championships lowered the mark to 7.27s.

Besides Bol and Holloway, Devynne Charlton and Tia Jones share the indoor world record in the women's 60m hurdles. Ahead of the Paris Olympics, World Athletics announced that the world indoor records had been ratified. In an Instagram post, World Athletics posted a series of pictures featuring the four athletes in action.

"World indoor records set earlier this year by @femke_bol, @flaamingoo_, @dvynn_ and @tia.ajones have now been ratified by World Athletics," the caption read.

Devynne Charlton, the Bahamanian hurdles specialist, clocked 7.67s at the 116th Millrose Games. With this achievement, she lowered Susanna Kallur's time by 0.01, which was set in 2008. Charlton further lowered her mark to 7.65s but that has not been ratified yet.

Tia Jones, the junior and national Olympic records holder in the 100m and 200m hurdles, equaled Charlton's 60m hurdles record time of 7.67s at the US Indoor Championships in Albuquerque.

"The relays are really important for us now" - Femke Bol on her Paris Olympic plans

Femke Bol, 24, holds the No. 1 400m hurdles rank in the World Athletics Rankings from 2021 to 2024. She also made waves in the 4x400m on the global stage, having swept wins at the World Championships (indoor and outdoor).

"For the Olympics also, the relays are really important for us now. We are also world champions on the women’s side. I’m looking forward to this whole season...," Bol said in an interview before the 2024 European Championships.

At the 2024 European Athletics Championships, Femke Bol anchored the Dutch 4x400m mixed relay team to bronze, finishing in a time of 3:10.73. Her split time of 49.21 made her the fastest female athlete in the finals of the mixed relay.
