Lexi Rodriguez expressed excitement over her first match with the LOVB Omaha team, drawing a comparison with her college volleyball career at the University of Nebraska. Rodriguez recently bid adieu to the Nebraska Huskers and joined League One Volleyball, which took off on its debut journey on January 8, 2025.

Hailing from Illinois, Rodriguez played volleyball at Sterling High School, catapulting her school's team to two Illinois state titles. She also received the Gatorade Player of the Year honor. In her first year of college, she became the first libero to be named AVCA National Freshman of the Year.

Posting a strong 2024 season and making the Big Four for the seventh time, the Nebraska Huskers lost to Penn State Nittany Lions in the semi-finals of the 2024 NCAA tournament. Following the setback, defensive player Rodriguez turned professional with the LOVB Omaha team.

Ahead of her first match on January 10, 2025, Rodriguez shared a make-up video on her TikTok, excited about her debut but reminiscing about the 'spoiled' days in Nebraska.

"Happy game day, aka my first game as a pro. It definitely does not even feel real, watching the game last night, I was like, holy crap, I'm a pro. It's very crazy to me. We are currently in Houston, and we play Houston. Our flight was at 6 a.m. yesterday, so we had to get up really early. We fly commercial, so it's a lot different, considering we were very spoiled at Nebraska and got to fly charter everywhere we went," she said, as per a fan's X post.

The 21-year-old holds the record for career digs, achieved during her time in Nebraska.

Lexi Rodriguez became a three-time first-team All-American, two-time Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, four-time first-team All-Big Ten, and one-time Big Ten Libero of the Year. Besides laurels, she witnessed her volleyball dream come true and build a family away from home at the University of Nebraska.

"The Last four years have been better than I could have ever imagined. I know I never won a National Championship but to me I won way more just by being a part of this program. Nebraska Volleyball allowed a little girl's dream to come true - the dream of playing for something bigger than herself. The dream of playing the sport she loves on the biggest stage and a dream of finding a family that stuck by us through everything," she said in her farewell note on Instagram.

Lexi Rodriguez's LOVB Omaha team will next compete against Madison on January 18, followed by Omaha's home opener.
