Beginning on July 26 and ending on August 11, 2024's Summer Olympics in Paris, France, will have 10,500 participants from 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) who will compete in 32 sports throughout the course of these over two-week long games, which are broken down into 329 events.
The Olympic Games are held in leap years, or every four years, and are run on a global scale by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) with the temporary Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (OCOG), which is set up by the country and host city to oversee the preparation, coordination, and execution of the Olympic Games. The estimated cost of hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics is €8.3 billion or $8.8 billion.

Paris Olympics 2024 Organizing Committee
As the name suggests, the Paris Organizing Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games (COJOP2024) will organize the Olympic Games held in Paris, France, in 2024. The IOC member and three-time Olympic champion Tony Estanguet serves as the president and Bernard Lapasset is the honorary president of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee, which was founded in January 2018.
The Board of Directors of the committee includes the Seine Saint Denis departmental council, the Métropole du Grand Paris, the French State, the Ile-de-France region, the CNOSF, the Paris City Council, the French Paralympic and Sports Committee, and representatives from the affiliated towns and cities.
In compliance with the terms of the host city agreement signed by the IOC, CNOSF (French National Olympic and Sports Committee), and Paris City Council, COJOP2024 is in charge of organizing, financing, and carrying out the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A knowledge and expertise-sharing agreement has been reached between the COJOP2024 and the Tokyo Organizing Committee for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games (TOCOG2020), in which the organizing committee of the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics will also take part.
The majority of the Board of Directors is made up of 20 members who represent the Olympics and 14 members who represent civil society. Members of the public sector are also represented on the Board of Directors.
