In episode 5 of Outlast season 2, Tonia couldn't handle the Alaskan wilderness and was eliminated, followed by her teammate Tre, who also quit. The show, known for its brutality, has only one rule, allowing contestants to use any strategy to win. Tonia and Tre were part of team Alpha, besides Zach and Bayo. While the group looked strong at the start of the show, all of them were eliminated by episode 5. Tonia and Tre were the last two members of the team and shared a strong bond between each other.
The two Alpha camp teammates were competing against Bravo and Delta camp who had five members each. Other teams had different roles assigned to each member and it was a smooth sailing game for them. However, things were difficult for the team Alpha as team members Tonia and Tre had to do everything on their own
Despite all odds against them, Tonia and Tre were able to push through with an optimistic attitude. They were determined to win the game on their own, however, the Alaskan wilderness had other things planned for them.
By episode 4, Alpha camp member Tonia lost her motivation and was just somehow getting through the game. She tried to cheer herself up again and again. Oregon native said to herself that she just needed to get past one minute and the next one after, to stay strong.
Tonia's demise started when she had Tre's soup in episode 4 of Outlast season 2. Tre made a starfish and snail soup to boost Tonia's morale. The seafood, however, did not sit well with her and she woke up in the middle of the night to throw up. The vomiting made the situation even worse for her, and she was feeling uneasy throughout her sleep.
While the two Outlast contestants were sleeping in their tents, Tonia asked her Alpha camp teammate Tre to call a medic to check on her. Once the medical team arrived, Tonia lost consciousness and was immediately rushed to an ambulance. She wanted to continue the game but her condition did not allow her.
In episode 5, Tonia was treated for hypothermia, hypoglycemia, and dehydration at Petersburg Medical Center and was eliminated. Tre, left alone in Alpha camp, needed to join another team within 24 hours or face disqualification. He mentioned he could have joined Team Bravo, with whom his camp had an alliance.
However, he didn't trust them, so he chose to leave the game instead. First, he shot a flare in honor of his camp member Tonia, then shot one for himself and was eliminated from the show.
