Brittney Yvette Griner is an American professional basketball player, playing for the Atlanta Dream. She was the first pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft and since then she has been playing for the Mercury as a starting center. Brittney Griner and her team won the 2014 WNBA Championship. She has achieved numerous awards, including being the WNBA Scoring Champion in 2017 and 2019, the eight-time WNBA Blocks Leader from 2013 to 2019 and 2021, the WNBA Peak Performer in 2017 and 2019, and the WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2014 and 2015. She won the 2012 NCAA Championship along with her team and she was the tournament's MVP.

She received numerous honors, including the Naismith College Player of the Year, the Wade Trophy Player of the Year, the John R. Wooden, the USBWA National Player of the Year, and the AP Player of the Year in 2012 and 2013. She played basketball overseas in the Russian National League and the EuroLeague Women. She played for the United States and won four gold medals in the Olympic Games and the FIBA Women's World Cup.
