Cameron Brink: A Brief Biography
Cameron Lee Brink is a professional WNBA player for the Los Angeles Sparks and plays at the Small Forward/Power Forward position. She was drafted with the 2nd overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. Brink was a highly touted player since her college days, winning an NCAA Championship in 2021 with the University of Stanford. She was also picked in the Pac-12 All-Freshman team in the same year. Brink is also a unanimous first-team All-American in 2024, second-team All-American in 2023, and third-team All-American in 2022. Brink also won the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 and the WBCA Defensive Player of the Year in 2023.
Brink is the recipient of 3 gold medals with Team USA Basketball, the latest of which is the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup, in which she was named tournament MVP. The other two medals came in the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup and the 2018 FIBA U17 World Cup. Cameron Brink was born in Princeton, New Jersey on December 31, 2001. Her parents worked at Nike, Amsterdam, where she lived for 3 years when she was 8 years old, before moving to the US. Although Brink was very interested in volleyball, inspired by the 2012 Summer Olympics, she started gravitating towards basketball after attending her godfather, Dell Curry’s basketball camp. Brink was bullied and made fun of during her school days. Kids made fun of her lanky body and even went as far as to throw eggshells at her house. To preserve her mental health, Brink changed schools before her senior year from Southridge High School to a new school called Mountainside High, according to Self. According to her mom, they saw “the joy of the game being sucked away”, as it affected Brink mentally, which prompted the decision for her to change schools, as per Self.

Cameron Brink has always been a phenomenal basketball player, right from her college days, but apart from basketball, Brink enjoys a lot of things life has to offer. For example, according to Marca, Brink was introduced to the world of art by her boyfriend Ben Felter, and she loves pottery and watercolours even though she says she is not that good at it.
