Chiney Ogwnmike is a professional basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Sparks. At 6 foot 2 inches tall, Chiney opted for Stanford over Connecticut and Notre Dame, where she joined her sister, Nneka Ogwumike. By the end of her Stanford tenure in 2014, Ogwumike had become the leading scorer in Pac-12 Conference history for both men and women. This record was later surpassed in 2016 by Kelsey Plum from Washington.
In the 2014 WNBA draft, Ogwumike was selected first overall by the Connecticut Sun. During her rookie season, she became a starter, achieving an impressive average of 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Her outstanding performance earned her a spot as a WNBA All-Star and the WNBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2014. Not only the WNBA, but Ogwumike also marked his basketball footprint overseas in Italy playing for club Famila Schio. Chiney Ogwnmike was born in Tomball, Texas U.S. She started playing basketball so early because of her height but in her preschool years, Ogwumike was involved in gymnastics rather than basketball. However, her mother encouraged her to switch to basketball. Ogwumike then attended Cypress Fairbanks High School in Cypress, Texas, where she led her team to win the 5A State Championship during her sophomore and senior years. Following her high school success, she followed in her older sister's footsteps and became a standout college basketball player.

Outside of playing basketball, Ogwumike is a well-known sports commentator who is currently tied up with ESPN as a sports analyst. In May 2018, Ogwumike signed a multi-year deal with ESPN to serve as a full-time basketball analyst. Chiney Ogwumike's illustrious basketball career began in high school, where she was named a McDonald's All-American in 2010 and won the Gatorade National Player of the Year award the same year. Her college career at Stanford further showcased her talent as she became a three-time WBCA Coaches' All-American (2012–2014), three-time Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year (2012–2014), and two-time Pac-12 Player of the Year (2013, 2014).
Additionally, she was selected for the Pac-12 All-Defensive Team four times (2011–2014). Her exceptional performance earned her the highest collegiate honours, being named the Women's Basketball Academic All-American of the Year (2014) and winning the John R. Wooden Award (2014).
