Courtney Williams is an American player, playing as a guard for the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA. She was a key part of the Lynx roster that made it to the WNBA finals in 2024 as she averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 1.2 steals during the 2024 WNBA playoffs while shooting 41.5% from the field and 44.4% from three-point range. Before WNBA, Williams attended the University of South Florida from 2012 to 2016. Williams was also an All-Conference First Team and an Honorable Mention for the All-American team. Her college performance was characterized by high numbers as she was the leading scorer in the American Athletic Conference during her junior year. For her performance at South Florida, Williams was admitted to the University’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

In the WNBA, Williams was drafted eighth overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Phoenix Mercury but later joined the Connecticut Sun. In her professional career, she has been with several teams such as the Atlanta Dream, and the Chicago Sky, and is with the Minnesota Lynx as of January 2025. Williams is a one-time All-Star which she earned in 2021. Besides WNBA, Courtney Williams also plays in the 'Unrivaled' 3x3 basketball league for team Lunar Owls.

Courtney Williams played college basketball for the University of South Florida (USF) from 2012 to 2016. She was a guard and she was able to establish herself as a scorer and a very athletic player. In her junior year, Williams was the leading scorer in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) with an average of 20.3 points per game. She was also included in the All-Conference First Team and was given an Honorable Mention for the All-American team.

In her college career, Williams scored a total of 2,304 points and ranked second in the USF all-time scoring list, third in rebounds (931), sixth in assists (318) and seventh in blocks (93). She also proved her all-around ability by being heavily involved in other aspects, scoring on average 7.5 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game during her junior year and 8.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists in her senior year. Williams’ accomplishments at the USF made her part of the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame, which shows the impact she had in the program.

Courtney Williams High School

Courtney Williams played basketball in high school for Charlton County High School in Folkston, Georgia where she had a very successful career. Williams set the scoring record for a single game at her high school, by scoring 42 points, breaking the previous record of 40 points, which was set by Williams’ mother Michelle who set the record 22 years ago.

Williams was also rewarded on a national level. She was chosen to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game in 2012, which is only for the top high school players in the United States.
