Laces BC will play Mist BC on Monday in the second week of the Unrivaled league. Laces debuted with an impressive 86-48 beatdown of Phantom BC on Saturday. The 38-point win was the first double-digit victory in tournament history.
The Breanna Stewart-led Mist will hope to bounce back with a win following a heartbreaking 84-80 loss to the Lunar Owls on Friday. Stewart and Co. couldn’t prevent Skylar Diggins-Smith from raining back-to-back 3s late in the game. Stewart and Jewell Loyd couldn’t hide their disappointment after the game but vowed to do better.
Laces BC vs Mist BC preview, prediction and predicted starting lineups
The Wayfair Arena in Miami, Florida, will host the Laces-Mist tussle. Fans can catch the action via TNT, Max and TruTV.
Laces BC vs Mist BC preview
The Laces BC did not even have Jackie Young and still beat Phantom BC comfortably. Alyssa Thomas and Co. showed their chemistry and all-around effectiveness. Every player coach Andrew Wade sent in scored in double-digit figures, including Kate Martin, who had 12 points and 10 rebounds in eight minutes.
Like in their debut, the Laces will try to stay unbeaten by moving the ball around against Mist. They also have to slow down Breanna Stewart, who had a rough-shooting night in her first game. Wade’s team has a good chance of winning their second game if they can do both.
Mist BC must keep their turnovers down to bounce back. In the loss to the Lunar Owls, they looked poised to get the win until errors forced them to stumble. Against the cohesive defense of the Laces, they can’t afford miscues, particularly unforced ones.
Coach Phil Handy is also likely hoping his team shoots more efficiently from deep. If they can do that, Mist will be tough to beat.
Laces BC vs Mist BC predicted starting lineups
In the Laces’ debut, Andrew Wade started Alyssa Thomas, Stefanie Dolson and Kayla McBride. The coach could keep the same starting lineup, but he could also change it.
Thomas should be a guaranteed starter. She is their point-center who will have the unenviable task of defending Breanna Stewart. Wade could keep McBride and add another shooter like Jackie Young if available.
Former Seattle Storm teammates Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd are likely shoo-ins in the starting lineup for Mist. Courtney Vandersloot could also continue running the team’s offense as the point guard.
Laces BC vs Mist BC prediction
The Laces already have superb chemistry and play sharp on both ends of the floor. They could stay unbeaten, but it wouldn’t be a blowout win against Stewart’s team.
