Rose BC and Vinyl BC played an entertaining battle on Friday in the second game of the opening night of the Unrivaled league. Rhyne Howard exploded for 33 points to lead Vinyl to a hard-fought 79-73 win. Howard made six of her team's seven 3-pointers to highlight her outscoring outburst.

Rose leaned on a balanced attack led by Phoenix Mercury gunner Kahleah Copper, who dropped 24 points. Chelsea Gray shone with all-around brilliance and finished with 21 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two steals. Angel Reese, who scored the game's first four points, contributed 10 points, 14 rebounds and four assists.

Vinyl led 67-58 entering the fourth quarter, but Rose nearly pulled off a come-from-behind win. Timely shots from Howard and Dearica Hamby allowed them to eke out the victory.

Rose BC vs Vinyl BC Game Summary

Rose BC and Vinyl BC squared off in the second game of the doubleheader on the opening night of the Unrivaled league. Angel Reese, Chelsea Gray and Kahleah Copper started the game for Rose under coach Nola Henry. Dearica Hamby, Arike Ogunbowale and Rhyne Howard opened for the Teresa Weatherspoon-coached Vinyl team.

Reese scored the game’s first four points, but Vinyl finished the first quarter strong to take a 23-17 lead. Howard scored 13 of her team’s total output in the opening quarter.

Copper responded in the second period with 11 points, while Gray continued to impact the game with her playmaking and scoring. After two seven-minute quarters, the two teams headed for the halftime break tied 39-39.

Vinyl took control of the game in the third quarter behind 10 more points from Rhyne Howard. Arike Ogunbowale and Dearica Hamby also helped the team gain a 67-58 lead before the start of the final quarter.

Chelsea Gray and Azura Stevens tried to turn the game around for Rose BC in the fourth quarter, but Vinyl BC held on for a 79-73 win. Gray scored a jumper to cut the deficit to 75-73, but Howard answered to extend the lead. Hamby sealed the win with a basket.
