Shakira Austin is a professional basketball player from Fredericksburg, Virginia, United States, and was born on July 25, 2000. She plays as a center/forward for the Washington Mystics. She began her WNBA career in 2022 when she was drafted as the third overall pick by the Washington Mystics. She grabbed 232 rebounds and scored 312 points in her first season. In the second season, Austin played only 19 games due to a hip injury as she scored 190 points and collected 133 rebounds in her sophomore season.

In September 2022, she signed a contract with Elitzur Ramla in the Israeli league. Austin contributed to Elitzur Ramla's championship victory in 2023 and she was named the best player in the league. In 2025, Austin joined the Laces basketball clun from the "Unrivaled" league, a 3x3 women’s basketball league spearheaded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.

Shakira Austin enrolled at the University of Maryland in 2018 after finishing high school. She was rated as the 4th-ranked player in the country. During her two seasons, as a freshman and sophomore, at Maryland, she played 66 games for the Terrapins and scored 668 points. In her freshman season for Maryland Terrapins, Shakira Austin averaged 8.4 points and 9.5 rebounds as she made it to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. She was also named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team in 2019 as she averaged a solid 2.6 blocks per game during her freshman season. In 2020, Shakira Austin improved her stats to average 12.0 points and 6.8 rebounds as she was named to Second-team All-Big Ten.

Shakira Austin then transferred from Maryland to Ole Miss in 2020, where she played 59 games and scored 989 points over two seasons. She was twice named First-team All-SEC in 2021 and 2022. She was also awarded the Gillom Trophy in 2021 and 2022 while playing for Ole Miss.
