Kahleah Copper is a professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury. She plays as a shooting guard and small forward. Copper was drafted seventh overall in the 2016 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics. Before WNBA, she played at Rutgers University and scored 1,872 points in 4 years, finishing as the third-highest scorer in program history. After just one season in Washington, Copper was traded to the Chicago Sky in a blockbuster Elena Delle Donne deal. Soon, Copper blossomed into a star, earning 4× WNBA All-Star honors 2021–2024. Copper led the Sky to their first championship in 2021, claiming Finals MVP after averaging 17 points per game. She was again traded to the Phoenix Mercury in February 2024 and in her first season with them, she made it to the All-WNBA Second Team in 2024.

Copper won the WNBA Three-Point Shootout in 2023 and excelled internationally, winning the EuroLeague MVP in 2022 while playing for Perfumerías Avenida. She also earned All-EuroLeague First Team honors that year. Representing Team USA, she won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In 2025, Copper joined the Unrivaled 3x3 basketball league, playing for Rose BC. Known for her scoring ability, she has solidified her reputation as one of basketball's top offensive players.

Over the years, Kahleah Copper has shown significant offensive growth in her WNBA career. After a slow start, averaging only 6.2 points in 2016, she continued with similar single-digit averages of 6.7, 7.1, and 6.7 points per game in the next three seasons. Then came her breakout season in 2020 with the Chicago Sky, where she averaged 14.9 points per game. Copper’s scoring steadily increased, reaching 15.7 points in 2022, 18.7 in 2023, and a career-high 21.1 points per game in 2024. She scored 782 points during the 2024 season.

After seven seasons in Chicago, Copper was traded to the Phoenix Mercury before the start of the 2024 season. She has been a constant factor in the success of the Mercury, leading the team in points per game and clutch points. The four-time All-Star, Copper has eight 30+ point games. She was ranked third in both points and points per game on the leaderboard, only behind A’ja Wilson and Arike Ogunbowale.

In her playoff career, Copper has made 23 appearances and averages 16.6 points per game as per Basketball Reference. In 2021, Copper led the veteran roster of Allie Quigley, Candace Parker and Courtney Vandersloot to the 2021 WNBA Championship. She averaged 17.7 points per game throughout the 2021 playoffs. Her playoff career-high points in a game is 26 against the Connecticut Sun in the 2021 semifinals.
