Born on August 28, 1994, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kahleah Copper was drafted as the seventh overall pick by the Washington Mystics in the 2016 WNBA Draft. The four-time All-Star was traded prior to the start of the season to the Phoenix Mercury from the Chicago Sky.

Before playing in the WNBA, Kahleah Copper played college basketball at Rutgers University, winning the 2014 WNIT MVP. During her tenure with the Sky, Copper was a fundamental piece in the 2021 championship team filled with veteran players like Candace Parker, Courtney Vandersloot and Allie Quigley. During the playoffs, Copper averaged 17.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals, shooting an efficient 52% from the field and leading the Sky to their maiden WNBA championship. She was named the 2021 WNBA Finals MVP.
