The Motor City Machine Guns have made a spectacular start to their WWE careers. In just two weeks since their debut, they beat the Bloodline duo of Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa to become the new WWE Tag Team Champions.

However, their title reign could soon be in jeopardy. There is a possibility that a legendary tag team might return to SmackDown to dethrone Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley, that being none other than Matt and Jeff Hardy, The Hardy Boyz.

In a recent interaction on Twitter/X, Chris Sabin thanked Matt Hardy for his kind words after MCMG won the tag titles and hinted at the possibility of facing The Hardy Boyz one day. Matt responded, saying they’re ready for it, and he called Hardy Boyz vs. MCMG one of the dream matches that has never happened.

Both Jeff and Matt are currently signed with TNA Wrestling. However, the 13-time World Tag Team Champions could soon make a return and reunite on WWE television for the first time since 2019. A program against The Motor City Machine Guns could be one of their first feuds if they return.

Matt Hardy recently talked about a potential return to WWE

The Hardy Boyz left All Elite Wrestling (AEW) earlier this year. Several fans have since speculated about the possibility of their return to WWE.

In a recent interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling's Senior Editor Bill Apter, Matt Hardy addressed this question. He said "never say never" in wrestling. He also mentioned that the NXT Tag Team Championship is one of the few tag titles they haven’t won in their illustrious careers. Matt hinted that this could be a possibility, especially with NXT's recent working relationship with TNA.

"In wrestling never say never, and I will say that the NXT Tag Team titles are not on our list of titles that we've won, so we are interested in that. And I think this crossover between NXT and TNA's great. It's exciting, it's unpredictable, and I think that's a positive for the business and the industry," Hardy said.

It will be interesting to see if the Stamford-based company decides to bring back the Hardy Boyz for one final run down the line.
