Fans who do not follow the independent scene and solely watch WWE may not be aware that Kassius Ohno had a long and illustrious career before he even signed with NXT.

For over a decade, he was known as Chris Hero, billed from Metropolis, and was one of the independent wrestling scene darlings. Hero would hold the PWG championship, the Ring of Honor World Title, and many other regional championships during his independent scene run.

During his time in the independent scene, Chris Hero developed a reputation as a rock solid worker who could have a great match with anyone.

He also developed a reputation for doing anything-anything--to get the fans riled up and emotionally involved in his matches. Unfortunately, some fans at small venue show took exception to some remarks by the in heel character Hero, and things got out of hand fast.
