Who is Bron Breakker’s Father?

Bron Breakker is an American professional wrestler currently signed to WWE on the NXT brand. Born on October 24, 1997, Breakker also played American Football before he joined WWE. In the promotion, he is a former two-time NXT Champion. He made his WWE debut in 2021 and has since then come to be known as one of the most exciting prospects in all of professional wrestling. Breaker’s real name is Bronson Rechsteiner and he is a second-generation wrestler with both his father and his uncle having made huge waves in pro wrestling already.

Bron Breakker is the son of Robert Rechsteiner, whom wrestling fans know by the name Rick Steiner. He is the brother of Scott Rechsteiner, known better by the name Scott Steiner. Together, the two brothers were known as the Steiner Brothers and were a force to be reckoned with in professional wrestling.

Bron Breakker's Father's Professional Wrestling Career

Early Years

Rick Steiner began his pro-wrestling career in 1983 and wrestled under the ring name Rob Rechsteiner before soon jumping to his more popular ring name. He worked in the Universal Wrestling Federation and formed a tag team with Sting, the man who would go on to become the Icon of WCW and TNA. Before moving to WCW, Steiner also worked for the NJPW. In 1988, the Universal Wrestling Federation was bought by Jim Crockett Jr, who merged it with the Jim Crockett Promotion.

WCW and formation of the Steiner Brothers (1988-1992)

Steiner joined JCP in 1988. The promotion was sold to Turner Broadcasting System in 1989 and was renamed to World Championship Wrestling (WCW). During his debut, he was a member of the Varsity Club alongside Mike Rotunda and Kevin Sullivan. In 1989, he and his brother Scott Steiner started making appearances together, eventually making a tag team. In November that year, the two superstars defeated The Freebirds to win the WCW Tag Team Championship.

Debut in WWF (1992-1994)

In 1992, The Steiner Brothers jumped ships to WWF. They won the WWF Tag Team Championship twice, defeating Money Inc (Ted DiBiase and Irwin R. Schyster) on both the occasions. The two superstars left WWE in 1994. Rick Steiner believed that the owner Vince McMahon was not following through the promises he made to the team.

ECW and NJPW (1990s)

Rick Steiner made his ECW debut in April 1995 at Three Way Dance. The two brothers reunited in July that year. During his time there, Rick Steiner also teamed up with ECW legend Taz, including at his last match in the promotion.

Speaking of their expereince in Japan, Rick Steiner and Scott Steiner debuted as a tag team in the NJPW in 1991. There, the two won the IWGP Tag Team Championship twice. After leaving ECW in 1995 and before joining WCW the next year, the Steiner Brothers worked full time for NJPW.

WCW Return (1996-2001)

The Steiner Brothers made their return to WCW in 1996, and would go on to remain with the company until its ultimate closure. The two feuded with Road Warriors and The Public Enemy before getting their hands on the WCW Tag Team Champion Harlem Heat. They defeated the champs at a house event to get their hands on title not too long after returning. They lost the title back to Harlem Heat just three days later before re-claiming it at Souled Out 1997. However, they were stripped off the title by Eric Bischoff just two days after winning it. In April that year, they introduced Ted DiBiase as their manager. They reclaimed the titles in October after fighting for it for months. They held the title for about three months before losing it to the Outsiders in January 1998, and won it back in February.

In a title defense later that month, Scott Steiner turned on Ted DiBiase and his brother to disband the tag team. Scott Steiner then joined the nWo. This lead to Rick fighting his brother and the other members of the NWO, however, had to remain out of action for months due to a shoulder injury. Rick Steiner made his WCW return in August that year without DiBiase. At Halloween Havoc, Rick defeated Scott in a singles match. The same night he had teamed up with Buff Bagwell to become the new WCW Tag Team Champions. After Bagwell turned on him as well, he nominated Kenny Kaos as the new champion. However, the title was soon vacated due to a shoulder injury.

In April 1999, he defeated Booker T to become the WCW Television Champion. He lost the title to Chris Benoit four months later before winning it back in October. He was involved in a few feuds in 2000 before he took months off and returned in January 2001. Soon, WCW was sold to WWE who also purchased most of the contracts of wrestlers. Rick Steiner was not one among them.

NJPW, TNA and the Indies (2001-2022)

After WCW was sold to WWE, Rick Steiner did not wrestle for about a whole year. He returned to wrestling in 2002 in NJPW. He teamed up again with Scott Steiner on the independent circuit in 2005. Rick Steiner was also a member of the TNA roster for two periods. Firstly, he joined the company in 2002 and remained there for a year. His next stint lasted a bit longer as he remained there from 2006 to 2008. Since then, Rick Steiner mostly wrestled on the indies, and that too sporadically.

WWE appearances after Bron Breakker’s debut (2022-Present)

After his son Bron Breakker became one of the biggest names on the NXT roster, Rick Steiner has not shied away from making a few appearances on NXT. At New Year’s Evil, Breakker defeated Tomasso Ciampa to become the NXT Champion, and Steiner came out to WWE for the first time since 1994 to celebrate the victory. The Steiner Brothers were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in the class of 2022 by Bron Breakker. He was then kidnapped by Joe Gacy and locked up in a cage because Gacy was after Breakker’s NXT Championship.
