With WWE Battleground just around the corner, we take a look at some of the scenarios which might, realistically, unravel at the PPV.
Alberto Del Rio will finally lose the World Heavyweight Championship
It has been months since someone besides Alberto Del Rio held the coveted title. Some would even say that he has been granted an extended run with the title, which is more than what the spectators hoped for.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
All this while, the WWE Universe has been calling for Mexican’s head after Del Rio has managed to bore the audience to the ground. Spectators want a World Heavyweight Champion who is effective on the microphone and can force them for a reaction. Also, add to that the stale gimmick of Alberto Del Rio, which needs immediate attention from the WWE Creative Team.
Rob Van Dam, on the other hand, has been the hot stock since his return to WWE. With the match stipulated as Hardcore Match, the stage is set for RVD to dazzle the audience with his in-ring abilities.
Also, due to the stipulation of the match, it will be believable for the crowd if Del Rio was to get injured during the match and undergo major character restoration. So, all bets on Alberto Del Rio retaining the title are off.
Kofi Kingston will lose to Bray Wyatt
Since their debut in the WWE, the Wyatt Family have, more or less, been in the news. Their abduction of Kane, their demolition of Tensai and more of the same has set up the tone for their dominance in WWE.
Bray Wyatt, the undisputed leader of the Wyatt Family, now faces an unfamiliar challenge in the form of Kofi Kingston. Kofi Kingston has been on a comeback spree and has been seeing off his opponents left, right and center, well, almost.
He is in for disappointment if he thinks that he will be able to beat Bray Wyatt. Wyatts are being pushed and in some way by the WWE Creative Team.
They are being built as the next big heel faction and to successfully achieve the feat, they need to demolish some faces. And guess what, Kofi Kingston fits the bill perfectly.
Brie Bella will win the Divas title
Even though no other diva, besides AJ Lee, deserves to be the Divas Champion, Brie Bella will take the championship away from her at the PPV.
AJ Lee is the best talker amongst the ladies and can garner a major crowd reaction. She is athletic inside the ring as well. Natalya is terrific inside the ring but her AJ Lee can connect with the crowd, doesn’t matter as a heel or a face.
Brie Bella, on the other hand, is on a hot streak. After the immense success of Total Divas, Brie Bella has gathered momentum, and some. Thanks to her timely engagement with the man vying for the WWE Championship, she will garner the results.
WWE Creative Team is clever and they would jump at the opportunity of having a champion couple (Daniel Bryan and Brie Bella) in a programme against the power couple (Triple H and Stephanie McMahon). Think about it.
CM Punk will lose to Ryback (and Heyman)
It just does not make sense. A good guy winning against the bad at the first opportunity. That does not happen in the world of WWE.
And keeping in mind this logic, one has to assume that CM Punk will not be able to get the job done at WWE Battleground. Sure, CM Punk will be the crowd favourite and he will put up a great fight. But the ending of the match will be quite anti-climatic.
Be it anything, Heyman, Ryback or even Axel, the match will not end with a clear winner. And if it somehow does, the winner will not be CM Punk.
WWE needs this feud to go forward and make it all the way to Hell in a Cell, if not Survivor Series. Finishing the feud now, when there are two consecutive PPVs lined up, will be bad business. Also, they will not be able to involve Punk in other storylines, given the shortage of time.
So, Ryback will stand tall at the end of the match. Whether it is with, or without, Paul Heyman by his side is yet to be seen.
Triple H will have a say in the WWE Championship match
Triple H, like him or not, is the one who calls the shots nowadays. Unless Vince McMahon comes back, the WWE Universe is stuck with him.
Being the egomaniac that he is, Triple H would love to stamp his authority on the WWE Championship. And there is no better way to do that besides deciding the outcome of the match itself.
Daniel Bryan, being the crowd favourite, is bound to dazzle the spectators. Randy Orton, on the other hand, will have a point to prove. And with Triple H keeping an eye on the proceedings personally, one should not be surprised if they see an appearance by Big Show during the match.
However, whether Big Show will follow Triple H’s orders or not, is another thing.
