Since CM Punk made his WWE return at the 2023 Survivor Series Premium Live Event, his comeback has been highlighted by an intense rivalry against Drew McIntyre. Until now, Punk and McIntyre have met in the squared circle on two occasions, and they have both won one match each.
At WWE Bad Blood, Punk and McIntyre will compete in a Hell in a Cell rubber match to settle this rivalry once and for all. While the majority of the WWE Universe will want the babyface Punk to win, there is a chance fans could witness the 'Atlanta Screwjob' when Punk competes in Atlanta, Georgia.
In this article, we will look at three things CM Punk must be aware of during his Hell in a Cell match against Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood.
#3. Seth Rollins screws CM Punk
On this week's episode of Monday Night RAW, Seth Rollins made his surprise return and took out Bronson Reed. The Aussie had attacked Rollins viciously in August, hitting Rollins with as many as six devastating Tsunamis. Now that The Visionary has seemingly got his revenge on Reed, he could once again focus on CM Punk at Bad Blood.
During the PLE, there can be an instance where a referee is required in the ring, and Rollins comes out wearing the referee get-up only to screw Punk over. Previously as well, Rollins was the Special Guest Referee in the SummerSlam match between Punk and McIntyre, but he did a fair job.
Ethan Page sneaks in to cost CM Punk
This week on WWE NXT, CM Punk was the special guest referee for the NXT Championship match between Ethan Page and Trick Williams. This match ended with a victory for Williams, who became the NXT Champion a second time. Page later expressed his displeasure over Punk's refereeing on social media.
Keeping the same in mind, at WWE Bad Blood, the former NXT Champion could sneak inside the cage disguised as a cameraperson and take his revenge on The Best in the World. A segment like this could also lead to a potential rivalry between the two superstars on RAW.
Drew McIntyre buys out the referee
Over the years, there have been many corruption angles in WWE. As a matter of fact, CM Punk was involved in one such angle all the way back in 2009, in a match at Breaking Point. Punk faced The Undertaker in a submission match for the World Heavyweight Championship.
During the match, Undertaker initially submitted Punk using the Hell's Gate. However, the match had to be restarted as fans were informed that the then SmackDown GM Vickie Guerrero had banned Taker's submission move.
As soon as the match began, Punk applied the Anaconda Vise, and even though 'Taker did not submit, the bell rang to signal the match was over. At WWE Bad Blood, The Scottish Warrior could also buy his way to victory in a similar fashion.
