Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado is an American Professional Wrestler currently signed with AEW under the ring name Mercedes Mone. She also appears on NJPW’s associate promotion World Wonder Ring Stardom. She is known for her time in WWE, where she wrestled for a decade from 2012 to 2022 under the ring name Sasha Banks.


The current AEW TBS Titleholder started her pro-wrestling training in 2008 at Chaotic Wrestling (CW) and made her in-ring debut two years later under the ring name Mercedes KV. Where she was the Chaotic Wrestling Women’s Champion. She held the championship for 259 days and vacated it after signing a contract with WWE.


Varnado participated in the 2012 WWE Tryout and eventually signed a contract with the company. She changed her name to Sasha Banks and made her television debut at WWE’s developmental brand NXT. She fought her debut match against Paige and lost.


In 2013, Banks turned heel by attacking NXT Women’s Champion Paige after losing to her for the title. Two weeks after turning heel, she adopted the “The Boss” gimmick and formed a team with Summer Rae and dubbed themselves “The Beautiful Fierce Females (BFFs)” However was disbanded the following year.


In 2015, Sasha Banks became the NXT Women’s Champion by defeating Charlotte Flair. She held the championship for 192 days and lost it to Bayley. She failed to regain the championship and was soon called for the main roster debut.


Banks made her main roster debut the same year on Raw as a part of Women’s Revolution, where she allied with Naomi and Tamina and formed a trio named Team B.A.D. (Beautiful and Dangerous). After ending her relationships with Team B.A.D. Sasha Banks became a fan favorite and became a face in the process.


Banks and Charlotte Flair then had a long rivalry over the Raw Women’s Championship, where both had the first seven championship reigns of the title. The feud not only made Banks a three-time Raw Women’s Champion but also helped her gain popularity and fame. Banks became one of the undeniable wrestlers of the company which made her five times Raw Women’s Champion, one time SmackDown Women’s Champion, and three times WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. By capturing all the gold of the company, she became the third Grand Slam Champion and fourth Triple Crown Champion of the company. In 2022, Banks and Naomi had a creative dispute with the company and left vacating the titles, ending Bank’s ten-year run with the company.


In January 2023, Varnado made her NJPW debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 under the ring name Mercedez Mone, where she confronted and attacked the IWGP Women’s Champion Kairi Sane. At Battle in the Valley, Mone won the IWGP Women’s Championship for the first time. However, she dropped the title to Iwatani after 64 64-day reign.

Mercedes Mone currently uses “Mone Maker” as her finisher, where she uses a Special Spun into a DDT. Mone when working for WWE used “Bank Statement” as her finisher, where she delivers a backbreaker and transforms it into a crossface. Mone is one of the flexible wrestlers, who adopts an attacking style of wrestling, where she uses knee strikes more often in her moves including Diving Double Knee, Double Knee Armbar, Backstabber, Meteora, and much more. She is known for her luxurious persona, where she named her signature and finishing moves to remble it, which includes BankStatement, Bankrupt, and Mone (Money) Maker. In her current character, Mone uses some of the luxurious accessories such as a finger ring with “$$$”, a crown resembling the Statue of Liberty, gold, dollars, yen, rubies, and so on.
