Trick Williams recently opened up about his relationship with two-time WWE Hall of Famer. The reigning NXT Champion claimed that multi-time World Champion Booker T has been very real to him.
Ever since fans started chanting "Whoop That Trick" in support of The Anointed One, Booker has been enthusiastically doing ad-libs for him from the NXT commentary desk. In a light-hearted moment, the WWE legend has also declined Trick Williams' challenge to a match, stating he won't step inside the ring.
In a recent interview with O'Shea Jackson Jr & TJ Jefferson on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, the 30-year-old WWE star described his relationship with Booker T as more of a familial bond than a traditional coach-student dynamic. Trick Williams explained that the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion provides honest and direct feedback, sharing personal experiences and offering constructive criticism:
"He [Booker T] talks to me like, he's my uncle; not like a coach per see. [sic] More like, 'Hey, I'm going to give you as real, this is what I dealt with when I was in the business. This is what I had to do to stand out. Hey, that little extra move you did right there, get rid of that, that's going to hold you back; that's stupid.' He keeps it real with me and I appreciate that because he has been really speaking to me like family. That's just the dynamic we have," Williams said. [From 15:55 to 16:25]

Trick Williams breaks character to praise ex-WWE rival
Before Carmelo Hayes moved to the main roster on SmackDown earlier this year, he was involved in a feud with The Anointed One. The two were best of friends before Melo turned heel on the current WWE NXT Champion.
During the same chat with O'Shea Jackson Jr & TJ Jefferson on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Trick Williams credited Carmelo Hayes for his early success in his WWE career:
"I say someone who laid a great platform for me; I can't go without saying Carmelo Hayes. I learned a lot by being beside [him] or even back into the right of Carmelo Hayes. When he had the main event matches for the PLEs, for Tuesday Nights, I was able to sit there and learn and build a rapport with the audience, without having the pressure of, 'Hey, I could put on this 15-20 minute banger and go get that title,'" he added.
It remains to be seen if The Anointed One can retain his NXT Championship against Ridge Holland at the Deadline premium live event on December 7, 2024.
