Trick Williams: A Brief Biography
Trick Williams is an American professional wrestler. He is signed to WWE on NXT, as of January 2025. The real name of Williams is Matrick Mondre Belton. Williams made his wrestling debut in 2021 with WWE and has stayed with the promotion ever since. In WWE, he has won the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge, NXT North American Championship, and also the NXT Championship twice.
Trick Williams's Early days and Football career
Trick Williams played football during his college days for the Hampton Pirates in the year 2013 preceding moving to play for the South Carolina Gamecocks, as per The Football Database. He was associated with the Gamecocks for two years (2014 to 2016). He got 11 passes for 121 yards while playing for the Gamecocks at a professional level, all of which came in the year 2015.

Signing with WWE (2021)
On February 24, 2021, Williams marked a formative agreement with WWE. He was first appointed to the WWE Performance Center and afterward, he then he moved on to the NXT brand. Sometime thereafter, he showed up for the first time on the September 14 episode of NXT under the in-ring name Trick Williams.
Trick Melo Gang (2021 - 2024)
Trick Williams showed up as the bodyguard of Carmelo Hayes and they shaped a gang named 'Trick Melo'. He made his official in-ring debut on the October 5 episode of NXT. He collaborated with Hayes in a fatal four-way elimination tag team fight for the NXT Tag Team Title. Hayes and Williams lost to MSK, the group of Nash Carter and Wes Lee.
All through 2022 and 2023, Williams went with Hayes in many matches. On the August 1, 2023, episode of NXT, Williams let Hayes know that they expected to head out in different directions so he could accomplish his achievements and get separated from the Trick Melo Gang. On the September 26 episode of NXT, Williams turned into the main competitor for the NXT North American Title by overcoming Dragon Lee, Axiom, and Tyler Bate in a fatal four-way match. On the November 14 episode of NXT, he defeated Joe Coffey to punch his ticket to the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge Match at NXT Deadline.
Williams won the Iron Survivor Challenge and earned himself a match against Ilja Dragunov. However, he had to face Grayson Waller to defend his title shot after Dragunov sustained an injury. Williams and Hayes reconciled and teamed up in the NXT Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, where they lost in the final to Baron Corbin and Bron Breakker on February 4. Upon this defeat, the rift between the two stars finally boiled over and Hayes attacked Trick Williams.
At No Mercy, Williams faced Dragunov for the title but lost after Hayes cost him the match. It was also revealed that it was Hayes who attacked him back in October 2023. The two superstars were then booked to face other at NXT's biggest event Stand & Deliver. At the PPV, it was Williams who won the match between the two former friends in the main event. The two had a rematch on the April 16 episode of NXT in a Steel Cage Match, where Williams won again to finish the feud.

NXT Champion and Singles Superstar (2024 - Present)
Following NXT Stand & Deliver, Williams challenged Dragunov for his NXT Championship. The champion accepted for a match at Spring Breakin' on the condition that Williams would have to leave NXT in case he lost. In the Week 1 of the event, Williams won the match to become the new champion. As a champion, he was involved in a storyline with Lash Legend, Noam Dar, and the Meta Four. Dar was attacked from behind on an episode of NXT, and that attacker was later revealed to be Ethan Page, who was after the NXT Championship.
Je'Von Evans and Shawn Spears announced their intentions at the title, and a fatal-4-way match for Williams' title was then made official at NXT Heatwave. At the event, Page pinned Evans to become the champion, ending Williams' title reign at 75 days. He then feuded with Pete Dunne, losing to him at NXT Great American Bash. Williams cost Pete Dunne a triple threat match for an NXT Championship opportunity, which extended the feud between the two. After a diss track and several confrontations, Williams defeated Dunne in a Last Man Standing match to earn an NXT Championship shot. On October 1, at NXT's CW premiere, Williams defeated Ethan Page, with CM Punk as special guest referee, to win his second NXT Championship.
Williams retained the title against Page in a Devil’s Playground match at Halloween Havoc on October 27 but was attacked post-match by Page and Ridge Holland, leading to an alliance with Bubba Ray Dudley. At NXT 2300 on November 6, Williams and Bubba Ray lost to Holland and Page. Williams ended his feud with Holland by retaining the title at NXT Deadline on December 7. On December 17, Williams’ title defense against Eddy Thorpe ended in a controversial double pin, allowing him to retain. At NXT: New Year’s Evil on January 7, 2025, Williams lost the NXT Championship to Oba Femi in a triple threat match also involving Thorpe, ending his reign at 98 days.
