Mickie James explains why she chose to continue wrestling after leaving WWE
Mickie James may have had some of her best storylines in the professional wrestling scene while working for World Wrestling Entertainment.
During an interview with Under The Ring, James discussed her in-ring career some time ago. She feels that her name has value and continuing to perform will help bring eyes to the women's division, which is not something that was considered important as it is today back when the former Women's Champion was an active competitor for WWE:
"When I left WWE, I wanted to do something for women's wrestling," James said. "To change the game for women has always been my number one priority since 1998 when I first stepped into a wrestling school and realized that we were different, and treated different, and, the opportunities were different for women than they were for men."
One year after parting ways with WWE, Mickie James made a one-off appearance at the Royal Rumble in 2022. At the time, she was the reigning IMPACT (TNA) Women's Champion.
