There's an unfortunate health update on an 83-year-old WWE Hall of Famer and wrestling legend. Abdullah the Butcher was reportedly hospitalized in Georgia and has been there for a week now.
Abdullah the Butcher is one of the most feared wrestlers of his generation and is mostly known for hardcore wrestling. The scars on his head have been a trademark of his due to his habit of blading during matches for the majority of his career. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.
According to PWInsider, The Madman from Sudan has been in the hospital for a week and has not been released because of some intestinal problems. It's unclear if he underwent surgery, and there's no confirmation if he'll be making his scheduled appearance in early August.
Abdullah the Butcher is promoted to make an appearance on The Gathering in North Carolina. It's a wrestling convention in Charlotte from August 1 to 4. He will certainly need clearance from his doctors before he gets released.
Abdullah the Butcher calls for prayers from the WWE Universe
In a statement via his Instagram account, Abdullah the Butcher released a statement regarding his current condition. The WWE Hall of Famer is hoping to make it to the The Gathering in Charlotte. But if he's unable to be at the wrestling convention, he's hoping that his fans will still buy memorabilia from his representatives there.
"To all my loyal fans and great friends that have supported me through my pro wrestling career up until now, first of all, I need your healing prayers and great support. I have been quiet but, you guys just cannot imagine what I’m going through that has brought me to this hospital bed where I am this evening. If I am not able to make it, Miss Malikah, her son and two others will be there representing me. Please come out in my absence, take photo and videos, meet n greet those that have been there for me during this difficult time in my life and, purchase my memorabilia. Again, I need your prayers and God willing, I will make it to “The Gathering” in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 2nd-4th, 2024, to see my great fans and friends next weekend, if I am discharged," Abdullah the Butcher wrote.
There's also a GoFundMe page to raise money for Abdullah the Butcher's treatment. It was set up by his goddaughter Esa Jeffries, who did the same thing earlier in January, with Chris Jericho being the top donor then.
