WWE recently signed a top international wrestler to the NXT brand, with Shawn Michaels officially welcoming her on X (formerly Twitter). A new report has seemingly revealed the performer's in-ring name upon arrival to the Stamford-based promotion.
The star being discussed is Stephanie Vaquer. The 31-year-old's a former champion in CMLL. La Primera departed from NJPW and the Mexican wrestling promotion citing personal reasons.
Just this week, Vaquer made headlines by choosing WWE over rival promotion, AEW. The Heartbreak Kid confirmed that the former Strong Women's Champion will soon start training at the Performance Center.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Stephanie Vaquer is expected to retain her current in-ring name upon joining the Stamford-based promotion. As of this writing, there are no plans from WWE to alter her name.
Wrestling veteran comments on Stephanie Vaquer choosing WWE over AEW
Former WCW veteran Konnan shared his honest thoughts on why La Primera inked a deal with World Wrestling Entertainment instead of Tony Khan's promotion.
For those unaware, Stephanie Vaquer lost her Strong Women's Title to Mercedes Mone (FKA Sasha Banks) at the recent AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024 Pay-Per-View. Many assumed the 31-year-old star would sign with All Elite Wrestling following the title match, but that didn't happen.
During an appearance on the Wise Choices with Eric Bischoff podcast, Konnan suggested Stephanie Vaquer likely got some wise advice that made her choose WWE over AEW.
"Well, here's the thing, and I don't know how much she [Stephanie Vaquer] followed AEW, I am thinking you don't--you can't get AEW in Mexico I believe. I think you have to like watch it on YouTube, I am thinking somebody gave her very good advice. So let's look at the facts okay?"

Fans are excited to see La Primera excel in the Stamford-based promotion. It remains to be seen who will be Vaquer's first opponent on NXT.
