WWE and AEW fans react to Stephanie Vaquer's decision
A hot topic in the pro wrestling world today is how former CMLL and NJPW champion Stephanie Vaquer has decided to sign with World Wrestling Entertainment over All Elite Wrestling.
Vaquer had a strong interest in the Stamford-based promotion following her Forbidden Door loss to Mercedes Moné. She won her AEW in-ring debut against Lady Frost days before the Winner Takes All loss match. The Chilean grappler immediately expressed interest in a rematch against Mercedes, but that will not be happening any time soon.
Many fans blamed Tony Khan for missing out on Vaquer, pointing to the social media narrative of how only Moné and Britt Baker receive proper TV time in AEW. Others credited Triple H for building up the WWE women's division.
Stephanie held the CMLL World Women's Championship until being stripped of the title today. A new champion will be crowned on Saturday at FantasticaMania as AEW's Willow Nightingale takes on CMLL's Lluvia and NJPW's Viva Van in a Triple Threat. Vaquer was also one-half of the inaugural CMLL Women's Tag Team Champions with Zeuxis until today.
