The WWE Universe is buzzing around the possible return of The Hardy Boyz. Following their AEW departures earlier this year, there have been rumors and speculation on the legendary duo returning to their former employer now that Triple H is running the show. New details on potential future plans have just leaked.
Jeff Hardy and Matt Hardy began their pro wrestling journeys in 1993 for the Trampoline Wrestling Federation, which became their own OMEGA promotion in 1997. After working indies and WWE tryout matches, the North Carolinians signed with Vince McMahon in 1998.
After brief hiatuses in the early 2000s, Matt and Jeff went to TNA for several years until making a surprise return at WrestleMania 33 in 2017. Matt left in 2020, then Jeff left in 2021, and both ended up in AEW. They are currently working with TNA after leaving Tony Khan's promotion earlier this year.
The Hardyz met with officials from World Wrestling Entertainment earlier today in Cleveland, according to PWInsider. The brothers were already in town for WrestleCon, but it's not clear when the meeting with the Stamford-based promotion was arranged.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The Charismatic Enigma and Big Money Matt met with people from WWE very early on Friday morning. Sources did not elaborate on what was discussed between the two sides, but there's talk that the 9-time main roster tag team champions filmed content to be rolled out via WWE Digital at some point.
The Hardyz are set to be in Tampa, Florida tonight, and then again on Saturday, for the TNA TV tapings. Matt and Jeff are booked to wrestle Moose and Johnny Dango Curtis on Saturday and are scheduled for a post-show Meet & Greet.
The Hardyz to enter WWE and TNA's forbidden door?
World Wrestling Entertainment and Total Nonstop Action opened their own forbidden door earlier this year in a major shocker to the wrestling world. The working relationship has allowed names like Joe Hendry, Jordynne Grace, The Rascalz, No Quarter Catch Crew, and Tatum Paxley to make crossover appearances.
After leaving AEW, Matt Hardy has been with TNA since April 20, and Jeff Hardy made his return on June 14. There is now speculation on The Hardyz appearing on the main roster or NXT as a part of the working relationship with TNA. However, Matt and Jeff were not signed to TNA contracts as of late June.
Matt's last WWE match came on January 20, 2020. He was defeated by Erick Rowan on RAW that night. Jeff last wrestled for the company on December 4, 2021. He teamed with Xavier Woods and Drew McIntyre at a non-televised live event to defeat Roman Reigns and The Usos.
