Trick Williams On-Screen Character History

Heel Turn (September 14, 2021-March 6, 2023)

After signing with WWE on February 24, 2021, Trick Williams began his NXT career, aligning himself with Carmelo Hayes on the NXT. Together, they formed the Trick Melo Gang, showcasing a heel persona by attacking Duke Hudson. Williams later debuted in the ring on October 5, teaming with Hayes in a fatal four-way tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championship, which they didn't win.

In 2022, Williams embraced his heel persona, embarking on a heated rivalry with Wes Lee. He prevailed at NXT: The Great American Bash on July 5, marking the conclusion of their rivalry. However, they faced each other again on the August 9 episode of NXT, where Lee emerged victorious.

Face Turn (March 7, 2023-April 3, 2023)

Trick Williams underwent a significant character evolution starting in April 2023 on NXT. Initially part of the heel faction Trick Melo Gang with Carmelo Hayes, he turned face after being betrayed by Bron Breakker. Williams then pursued individual accomplishments, including a brief NXT North American Championship win and a subsequent feud with Hayes, culminating in a main event steel cage match at NXT Stand & Deliver in April 2024, where Williams emerged victorious.

Following an outstanding rivalry with Carmelo, Williams put his NXT career on the line by challenging Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship. At Spring Breakin' on April 23, 2024, Williams defeated Dragunov to win his first NXT Championship. Upon claiming the title, he successfully defended his NXT Championship for the first time against former AEW superstar Ethan Page at NXT Battleground 2024.
