WWE Battleground 2014: 3 Possible Endings for Rusev vs Jack Swagger match

From his days in NXT itself, Rusev was someone that the WWE had big plans for. The foreign monster gimmick is something which the company often banked in and Rusev was given the same when he got promoted to the main roster.Just like the textbook stuff, WWE fed him with jobbers initially and build him a fan base which had emotions for him even if it was hate or dislike. Slowly WWE increased the standard of his opponents with time and has reached the level of Jack Swagger.Aided by the long awaited face turn of Swagger and some good microphone work by Lana and Zeb Colter has made the feud a must watch for the WWE fans. With the buildup being near perfect, its the execution of the match that needs to be settled down so here is a look at the possible endings.

#3 Surprise return

Though the angle with Swagger is doing wonders for Rusev at the moment, the company is likely to get Rusev a bigger opponent for Summerslam. And at the moment, there isn’t any one better in size and resume available for Rusev to feud with than Big Show.

Show is a veteran in the business and has a wealth of experience which could help put Rusev more over with the fans. WWE also needs Show to be active after taking a stint for other activities and a return at Battleground to save Swagger would do the job well.

Colter might be doing a great job standing up against Lana, but Show could be more entertaining with his trademark promos.

Rusev applying the accolade and refusing to break it would be a stage setter for Show to make his grant entrance once again. Defeating Show at a pay-per-view like SummerSlam would help Rusev embark on better feuds in the future while Swagger could be involved in any other mid card title angle.

#2 Americans finally gets a hero

The equation doesn’t get any simpler than this: A win against Rusev would put Swagger back into relevance like he used to be back when there were two titles in the WWE.

If the WWE is willing to put Swagger over as a face with the momentum that he has now, it will be helpful in the long term. Rusev will not be affected big time with the loss against Swagger while it would do wonders for the Real Americans.

Also, if the company is letting Rusev win just like that, the entire face turn of Swagger will come down as a waste despite evoking some great response from the WWE Universe.

Swagger winning can extend the feud to SummerSlam as well since Lana would be eager to make a statement if Rusev finally loses out cleanly to someone.

#1 Bulgarian Brute strolls ahead

Arguably the most predictable and possible outcome on Sunday would be Rusev getting another win under his belt before the company shoots him right into the stars.

He has been protected in most of the match that he had so far and even in the high profile match that he had with Roman Reigns, the creative decided to end it in a disqualification than letting Rusev be the clean loser.

This shows the amount of faith that WWE has in Rusev and if they didn’t let Reigns get a win over Rusev, the chances of them letting Swagger get one are slim.

Ending the feud here would let Rusev have a bigger feud for SummerSlam as suggested in the first possibility while no one ruining the ending of the match will let the WWE have another bout between the two next night on Raw.

The heat on Rusev will double with the win and Lana will thrive under the circumstances to endorse the monster that only she complaints.
