WWE Battleground 2014: 5 storylines to follow until the pay-per-view

The WWE creative team has been getting a lot of heat for recycling storylines instead of making new ones. They havent been able to produce a credible heel other than the Authority while the department where they elevate young stars has been pretty much strong. The way in which they plot narratives around young stars has been the savior for the company for some time now and heading to Battleground, its those young stars that hold things together. If pulled off well, these are angles that could give the company some main event stars and as we are heading to Battleground, here is a look at which all storylines needs to be kept track of.

#5 Real Americans and Anti - Americans

Rusev and Lana’s love of mocking the Americans has landed them a feud with Real Americans Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter. WWE sticking with the Anti-American angle is exciting since it has done wonders for them in extreme past.

Zeb Colter and Lana locking horns in the microphone would be a funny affair to say the least while Rusev can fight it out with Jack Swagger in between the ropes.

The outcome of this angle is none other than Rusev getting a win, but it’s going to be one of those angles which would be worth watching even after knowing the climax.

The storyline promises to be an entertaining one and with Swagger turning face, it has reached new excitement levels.

#4 The Anti - Diva and Divas Champion

WWE actually started giving hints of AJ Lee’s return when they let Paige show glimpses of her aggressive side against her feud with Naomi.

An aggressive Paige would be a more credible opponent for AJ Lee, who apparently is a face at the moment. The title change might’ve been botched, but there is still a lot that can be taken out form this storyline.

AJ Lee is someone who defeated all the other divas in the division before she took the break. This means that Paige will be fighting it out with AJ for the long term. The potential of Divas getting talking time on the show is also a refreshing add on.

#3 Buzzards behind the walls of Jericho

Chris Jericho made a thunderous return on Raw this week and soon had the Wyatt family breathing down his throat. Jericho who is someone who can take on the whole family at the same time and this has opened up some good possibilities.

First of all, Jericho and Bray Wyatt had some friction back in NXT and the match they had was solid and likeable. Also both superstars are great microphone performance which promises vocal battles between the two.

Jericho is known for elevating young talent, and at this stage Bray is someone who needs all the help in the world. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper’s contribution would be a good subplot as Jericho might tickle some funny bones teasing them.

#2 Ambrose trying to take down the Authority

Rebels who go against the Authority have always managed to grab the crowd’s cheer in WWE. Names like Steve Austin and Daniel Bryan has flourished in that character and WWE has given that tag to Dean Ambrose at the moment.

His feud might be centered on the fact that Seth Rollins betrayed his brothers but the involvement of the Authority has made it a much bigger angle.

Unlike Steve Austin and Daniel Bryan, Ambrose is someone who brings that lunatic side into the table. Ambrose is someone who is willing to go all the limits to do what he wants and the instead of desperation, it’s the revenge that drives Ambrose forward.

There are dynamics which is sure to build up a good and long angle that can headline multiple pay-per-views.

#1 Seth Rollins trying to become an opportunist

After winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, Seth Rollins now has a title shot at his will which makes Rollins the most unpredictable star in the roster right now.

In the past, almost all Money in the Bank winners has gone all the way to snatch the title from whoever was holding it. Rollins has all the resources to rise to the levels which Edge was known for and it would depend on how the company makes him cash in the contract.

He could either cash it in some kind of big pay-per-view or spoil it in a weekly show. The former would be impactful and it would stamp his place as a main event star.

The unpredictability is the most exciting prospect of this angle and the curiosity about whether WWE would mess things up makes it more interesting.
