The WWE Universe might not consider Battleground as a big pay-per-view, but it has a paramount significance since it would be the last stop of the company before SummerSlam. With all the developments that were drawn out at Money in the bank, the company will have to keep the momentum going for Battleground If they are to make the Summers biggest event a success. After an eventful Raw on Monday night, they also have all the resources to do the same. The match card might not be revealed yet but there are certain things that the company needs to do in their next pay-per-view outing. So here is a look at five things that the company should do at Battleground.
#5 Cesaro winning the Intercontinental title
Cesaro has been booked randomly even though he has Paul Heyman by his side. He has been in almost all the big matches after WrestleMania but Cesaro hasn’t been consistent when it comes to grabbing the opportunity.
With Brock Lesnar sure to return before SummerSlam, Heyman would be doing double duty which might let the fans think that Cesaro is less important for the time being.
The only way in which WWE could avoid this is by letting Cesaro win the vacated Intercontinental title. Gold around his waist would let Cesaro slowly morph into a main event star and will keep him relevant during the time that Lesnar would tore apart the upper card with Paul Heyman.
There aren’t many other choices that Cesaro to fill in the void left by Barrett and prospect of a future feud between the two makes this even better.
#4 Ascension debut
The sad state of the Tag Team division wasn’t improved at Money in the bank where the Usos retained their title when the company could’ve just let Wyatt Family win.
Now that the Usos defeated the Wyatt Family fair and square, the latter wouldn’t be having much of a case to show if they want to ask for another title shot. Also the angle with Chris Jericho might also incorporate Erick Rowan and Luke Harper making it the bigger.
This will leave Usos without any competition which makes it the ideal situation for WWE to bring Ascension into the main roster.
A good established heel team is what the Usos need right now and later the Rhodes brother could be added into the mix making it a three way battle for the title.
#3 Let Paige win the title back
AJ Lee’s return was arguably one of the most interesting things that happened to Divas division in recent history. She came in and took the title from Paige in a jiffy which was exciting for AJ fans but actually worked against Paige.
Paige was slowly turning into a diva that could’ve carried the division, but AJ’s quick title win has made Paige look weak. Paige might have the chance to show off her heel side during the feud, but if the company needs to drag this to Summerslam, they have to let Paige win the title back.
There aren’t many other options which the company could use at Summerslam for the Divas division as all the other divas already had a go at AJ during her last run.
A title change would keep both the divas fresh and make them look equally strong heading into the match.
#2 Give Dean Ambrose a win over Seth Rollins
Though, Roman Reigns was the one who was expected to stand out after the Shield broke, both Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have been doing a great job as lone wolfs.
From that Seth Rollins has been winning matches and is having a lot of momentum after winning the Money in the Bank briefcase. He is backed by the Authority and has come to a stage where a bad result wouldn’t hurt him any bit.
On the other hand, Dean Ambrose has been winning hearts of the match but his numbers have been disappointing. He is yet to get some wins under his belt to back up the things he says.
He might have been screwed by the Authority to continue the narrative, but if the company wants to let him have a long run, they should give him a good win at the pay-per-view.
#1 Bring back Brock Lesnar
The one in twenty one and one, Brock Lesnar was riding high on momentum after ending the legendary streak of Undertaker. However, after that the company hasn’t made any kind of utilization of Brock Lesnar.
He is currently one of the most underused superstars in the roster and WWE will surely have to drag him back into the scene at SummerSlam. He will most probably face John Cena for the title once he returns, and to build up the match WWE would have to do the ceremony at Battleground.
Lesnar in the mix along with Seth Rollins will make the title picture more interesting while Cena will be left vulnerable.
Also it’s more star power to Summerslam which will be without Daniel Bryan who is likely to miss the whole year after requiring another injury.
