WWE Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns

WWE Superstars Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns have had numerous iconic battles in the ring over the years. Reigns vs. Lesnar was the first match to headline three different WrestleMania events. Both Superstars, who Paul Heyman has managed, have had long runs with the Universal Championship, and are the only two superstars to have ever beaten The Undertaker at WrestleMania. The Beast has won world titles in both UFC and WWE, the only man to do so as of February 2025.

Roman Reigns debuted in 2012 when Lesnar was one of the biggest names in combat sports. Since then, Reigns has been a multiple WWE World Championship winner and a Grand Slam Champion. The Tribal Chief has also had the longest reign with the world title in four decades and has headlined WrestleMania more than anybody else in WWE history.

Based on Cagematch, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have crossed paths in 12 matches, where Reigns has won five and Lesnar three as of February 2025. In singles matches, Reigns has defeated Lesnar four times in six matchups.

SummerSlam 2022

Brock Lesnar challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2022, in what was booked by WWE as Last Time Ever. It was made a Last Man Standing match between the two veterans. During the match, Lesnar lifted the whole ring with his forklift. In the end, with the help of The Usos, Reigns managed to bury Lesnar under the announcer’s desk and won the Last Man Standing match.

WrestleMania 38

WWE billed the main event of WrestleMania 38 as the Greatest WrestleMania Match of all time. The WWE Champion Brock Lesnar went against The Universal Champion Roman Reigns and the titles were meant to be unified in this fight. The two superstars had a 12-minute-long match, during which The Bloodline helped Reigns tip the scales in his favor.

Crown Jewel 2021

Roman Reigns defeated John Cena at SummerSlam 2021, but his victory celebrations were short-lived. Brock Lesnar made his long-awaited return to WWE and challenged Reigns for the title. This set up a bout in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. At Crown Jewel, Reigns managed to defeat Brock Lesnar and retain the title. However, this victory wasn’t clean, as he got an assist from The Bloodline.

SummerSlam 2018

Brock Lesnar had held the Universal Championship for over 500 days, walking into SummerSlam 2018. There, he faced Roman Reigns, the guy who had not defeated Brock Lesnar until now. During the match, Braun Strowman decided to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and this distracted Lesnar. Reigns utilized the opportunity to conquer The Beast.

Greatest Royal Rumble

At the WWE Greatest Royal Rumble 2018, Roman Reigns challenged Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. It was a Steel Cage match, and the first one to escape from the structure was to be crowned the winner. Towards the end, Reigns speared Lesnar right through the cell, and both superstars fell out of the ring. However, it was Lesnar who fell on the ground first and was thus declared the winner.

WrestleMania 34

Brock Lesnar was the Universal Champion walking into WrestleMania 34. Despite that, Roman Reigns was the favorite to win the title, given his form at the time. However, Lesnar downed Reigns to retain the gold.

WrestleMania 31*

This was supposed to be the first singles match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar, and for a few minutes, it was. Roman Reigns won the Royal Rumble 2015 and challenged Lesnar for the World Heavyweight title in what was Reigns’ first WrestleMania main event. During the match, Seth Rollins, Mr. Money in the Bank at the time, cashed in his briefcase in what was the first time the contract was cashed at the event. Rollins eventually defeated the Tribal Chief and The Beast. While this technically was a triple-threat match, it was the first time Reigns and Lesnar faced each other in the ring.
