What’s the story?
As per CBS and WWE, it has just been announced that The Dudley Boyz will join Goldberg as inductees for the Hall of Fame Class of 2018.
In case you didn’t know…
Back in December, it was rumoured that Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz, Ivory, Bam Bam Bigelow and Kid Rock would be inducted into the HOF this year.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
With Goldberg being announced just two weeks ago, it looks like the rumours may be very accurate indeed.
The heart of the matter
Well, after their RAW 25 appearance, it seemed like only a matter of time until the announcement came. Exactly one week later and it has now been confirmed that Bubba Ray and D-Von are Hall of Fame bound!
CBS initially broke the news, with WWE quickly following up as is the status quo with Hall of Fame announcements.
It's no surprise that The Dudley Boyz have found themselves here. Having dominated tag team divisions across the world since debuting in ECW two decades ago and while they've traded tie-dye for camouflage in that time, not much else has changed with us seeing them 3-D Heath Slater through a table less than seven days ago.
The Dudleyz are perhaps most infamous for being innovators of the TLC match alongside Edge and Christian, and The Hardy Boyz. By 2005, The Dudley Boyz had racked up eight reigns as World Tag Team Champions, one as WWE Tag Team Champions and one as WCW Tag Team Champions before leaving the company - returning ten years later and proving to be every bit as popular with the WWE Universe.
What’s next?
Well, at a guess, Ivory? It looks like the rumours were correct and we'll see the former GLOW Champion and three-time Women's Champion join Goldberg and The Dudleyz soon enough -alongside the Dudleyz' fellow ECW star, the late Bam Bam Bigelow, and Kid Rock.
Will it happen? Who knows, but I'm sure it won't be too long until we find out who else will be inducted to kick off WrestleMania weekend.
Author’s take
No-one can throw a flag on this induction. The Dudley Boyz are one of THE most popular and most decorated tag teams in wrestling history and they 100% deserve this induction. Now the big question... Who will induct them?
