Ivory joins Goldberg and The Dudley Boyz as the Class of 2018

What’s the story?

As per ESPN and WWE, it has just been announced that Ivory will join Goldberg and The Dudley Boyz as an inductee for the Hall of Fame Class of 2018.

Ivory is a former Women's Champion, a trainer on Tough Enough and even competed for all-women's promotion GLOW- recently brought to life in the Netflix drama of the same name.

In case you didn’t know…

Back in December, it was rumoured that Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz, Ivory, Bam Bam Bigelow and Kid Rock would be inducted into the HOF this year.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

With Goldberg being announced a month ago and The Dudley Boyz added two weeks ago, it looks like those rumours may be very accurate indeed.

The heart of the matter

Well, while Ivory may be best known for her two runs as WWE Women's Champion or for appearing on WWE Tough Enough - the timing of her induction could not be any more appropriate.

With the boundaries of women's wrestling being broken with WWE starting off 2018 with the first ever Women's Royal Rumble and now leading on to the first ever Women's Elimination Chamber Match, who better than a former Women's Champion who broke down barriers herself to be inducted?

Not to mention, with the popularity of GLOW as a TV show, remembering a former Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling wrestler in Lisa Moretti, AKA Ivory, and her great career when she joins the Hall of Fame in New Orleans. Moretti actually began her career in GLOW in 1986 under the name Tina Ferrari.

Speaking to ESPN, Ivory said of her induction:

"[This Hall of Fame recognition] means that it's a full circle in your career, in your wrestling chapter. It's great bragging rights for your family that have seen you go through the eras and I also feel like it's an awesome tribute to the women in wrestling as a whole."

What’s next?

Well, if the rumors are to believed, then either late Bam Bam Bigelow or Kid Rock will be the ones to follow Ivory. Given the timeframe, it seems like we may find out in exactly two weeks, too.

Either way, it won't be too long until we find out who else will be inducted to kick off WrestleMania weekend.

Author’s take

No one can throw a flag on this induction. Ivory was a huge part of WWE television. As a two-time Women's Champion, she's a surefire Hall of Famer, add to that her inclusion in the GLOW promotion and you can see why WWE would induct her. It'll be interesting to see who's next!
