Kid Rock's music has been used as entrance music and pay-per-view theme songs over the past 18 years

What's the story?

After taking a year off in 2017, the WWE is inducting someone into the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame. As first reported by Billboard, Kid Rock is the latest inductee into the 2018 class.

In case you didn't know...

Kid Rock's musical career began in 1990, but it was the heavy airplay of his single "I Am The Bullgod" late in 1998 where his career exploded. That album, Devil Without A Cause, was certified Diamond by the RIAA, meaning it sold over 10 million albums.

The heart of the matter...

Kid Rock's involvement with the WWE goes back 18 years when his American Badass single was used as the theme for The Undertaker when he first used the biker gimmick. He also covered the ZZ Top classic "Legs" as a theme song for Stacy Kiebler in 2005.

Kid Rock has made several special appearances for the WWE as well including Monday Night Raw in 2000, a performance during WrestleMania XXV, and a concert for the armed forces in attendance for Tribute For The Troops in 2012.

Billboard did an interview with Kid Rock, and he had the following to say about the induction:

“Every time I go to a WWE event I always have a good time; there is nothing like it and no better fans in the world," Kid Rock tells Billboard. “The Hall of Fame ceremony will be a fun night and it will be great to see everyone again. I have so much respect for what those guys and girls do. I’m grateful to WWE for letting me be a part of WrestleMania weekend.”

Joining Kid Rock in the 2018 class of the WWE Hall of Fame are Goldberg, The Dudley Boyz, Ivory, Jeff Jarrett, Hillbilly Jim, and the Warrior Award recipient Jarrius "JJ" Robertson.

Snoop Dogg was the last induction to the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2016. Other celebrities who have been inducted include Pete Rose, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Donald Trump, and Mike Tyson.

What's next?

The 2018 Hall of Fame class is close to full, so stay tuned to Sportskeeda for further updates on this year's inductees. Chyna and Bam Bam Bigelow have been rumored to be joining this class as well.

Author's take...

The celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame, aside from Drew Carey, has individuals from the entertainment and sports industry that have made a memorable impact within the WWE, and Kid Rock is a good addition to that list.

From entrance music to pay per view theme songs, Kid Rock's music has been an integral part of the WWE over the past two decades. I think it would be fitting to have one rock star in Chris Jericho induct another rock star in Kid Rock.
