WWE News: Rob Van Dam reveals who he would want to induct him into WWE Hall of Fame

What's the story?

As the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony has come and gone with WrestleMania, a lot of former superstars have been asked about who they would like to induct them into the hall when and if they get the call.

One such superstar is Rob Van Dam, and in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, 'Mr. Monday Night' revealed that if he gets the call, he'd like Paul Heyman to induct him. Fightful.com carried a report where RVD discussed several things.

In case you missed it...

RVD was one of the biggest and brightest stars from ECW. His popularity allowed him to both adapt to WWE and have success in the company whereas acts like the Sandman and Tommy Dreamer weren't as lucky. He is still active on the independent scene but hasn't been in a WWE ring since 2014.

The heart of the matter

While speaking with Chris Van Vliet of WSVN-TV during an interview, RVD was asked about a potential induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

Having defeated John Cena for the WWE Championship at One Night Stand back in 2005 made RVD a dual champion as he was already the ECW Heavyweight Champion prior to defeating Cena.

That accomplishment alone would be something considered worthy of induction to the HOF and RVD was asked about the possibility in the near future.

"Right off the bat I think Paul Heyman. I think it would really be good for me to try to hear his perspective firsthand of what his thoughts were on me and him developing me. It would be an experience for me for him to open up like that."

Van Dam was one of the mainstays in ECW during the 1990s and early 2000s before it went defunct in the early 2000s.

He battled the likes of Sabu, Mike Awesome, Taz and many others while keeping the upstart company afloat during a time when WWE and WCW ruled the wrestling game.

Heyman was very hands on during his directing of ECW and would certainly have interesting insights into RVD's career.

His successful transition to the WWE allowed him numerous opportunities to capture titles, including three tag team title reigns and six Intercontinental Title reigns.

RVD is currently on a part-time basis with Impact Wrestling teaming with his former partner in ECW, Sabu.

What's next?

Of the omissions of superstars from the HOF, along with Owen Hart, the British Bulldog and Vader, RVD's absence from the hall is questionable.

He did have to drop the titles due to an arrest during his reigns, but that hasn't stopped WWE from inducting the likes of Sunny or Greg Valentine. His day will hopefully come next year or shortly thereafter.
