WWE Rumors: Jim Cornette wanted his return to be kept secret

Jim Cornette never disappoints

What’s the story?

Jim Cornette returned to WWE to induct The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express into the hall of fame. And according to Cageside Seats, it was apparently Jim Cornette who wanted the news about his return to be kept secret.

In case you didn’t know...

Jim Cornette worked for WWE from 1993-2005 in a variety of roles. Ever since his divorce from the company, the former manager of the Midnight Express has been very critical of his former employer. Therefore, it came as a shock when it was announced that he would be inducting the Rock ‘n’ Roll Express into the hall of fame.

Jim Cornette has also been involved in a war of words with Kevin Owens. Some of his comments about the former Universal Champion have drawn the ire of the internet wrestling community.

The heart of the matter

On February 6, 2017, WWE announced that The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express were going to be inducted into the hall of fame. However, it wasn't until March 20, 2017, when it was announced that Jim Cornette would be inducting his greatest rivals. This announcement was apparently kept under wraps because of a request from Jim Cornette.

Author’s take

Jim Cornette’s speech at the hall of fame was nothing short of spectacular. The legendary manager regaled the audience with stories about his time in wrestling and truly did a phenomenal job. His ability to command an audience is sorely lacking in the wrestlers to command an audience.

I hope that Cornette makes a return to WWE television. In an era where Wrestlers struggle with their promos, Cornette can be a potent tool to elevate young talents. Could you imagine him managing someone like Baron Corbin or Braun Strowman? His knowledge and experience would help them become so much better.
