For all of you fearing that Dean Ambrose was little more than a placeholder for the WWE Title while the heat ebbs of Roman Reigns, it would appear that you are right.
If the latest rumours surrounding their Battleground Triple Threat main event should be believed, Seth Rollins is expected to beat Dean Ambrose clean at the pay-per-view and wrest the WWE Title from him.
And according to cagesideseats.com, he is expected to feud with Roman Reigns over the Title leading up to a match at SummerSlam in August.
This could also be why Dean Ambrose was given a clean pinfall victory over Seth Rollins in the very first episode of SmackDown Live!, setting him up for a loss at the pay-per-view.
The WWE aren’t willing to take the chance of having Reigns win the title straight after coming back from a 30-day suspension for violation of the Wellness Policy, fearing the backlash from the audience.
It is also noteworthy that even the mention of his name during the Drafts elicited a chorus of boos from the audience.
