Moreover, throughout their existence, they have built up a major rivalry with the New York Mets.

Derek Schiller serves as their president while Alex Anthopoulos serves as the president of baseball operations and the general manager. Blooper is the official mascot for the Atlanta Braves, having taken over the responsibilities from the ex-mascot Homer The Brave in 2018. He is a big, fuzzy, funny, and mischievous creature with extendable ears as per the MLB official site. He is a scientific invention gone wrong. Blooper wears a 5XL T-shirt. He has been described to be like Shrek but with ramen coming out of all his pores.

Blooper’s History

The Atlanta Braves decided to introduce Blooper in an interesting and unique way for the fans. During the Atlanta Braves fan fest on January 27, 2018, they decided to put all the qualities of an Atlanta Braves superfan in a machine and Blooper is what emerged from the machine. The Atlanta Braves management informed people that what they are really confused about Blooper is that they have never figured out how he eats food despite not having a mouth. That is why he has been described as a “product of science run amok.” Although fans were critical and reluctant about the new mascot, his antics impressed them and after the team became World Series Champions in 2021, he was fully embraced by the fans as a mascot.

Since his introduction, Blooper has been serving as a loyal employee of the Atlanta Braves. He loves to do everything regarding the Atlanta Braves. He entertains the fans during the games while also making goodwill and PR appearances for the team at Truist Park.

Blooper’s Funny Incidents

Blooper is a master of mischief. On May 2, 2019, Blooper approached Manny Machado with a placard for player autographs. Machado happily signed it for him. However, the crafty Blooper soon revealed his true colors by showing that what Machado had actually signed was a blank cheque of $300 million. He then ran away with it as per the MLB official site.

Later, in the season, Blooper pulled the same stunt with Bryce Harper.

On June 16, 2019, wearing a judge’s robe and wig pulled Bryce Harper into foul territory and showed him a board on which was written, “I declare June 16, 2019, National Bryce Harper Day.” it was signed by both Atlanta Mayor Bloop and Phillie Mayor Phillie Phanatic. Harper took out a quill and tickled Blooper before signing the proclamation. No, sooner had Harper signed than Blooper once again showed his true self. He removed his wig and robe and quickly wore a Braves cap. He revealed that Harper had actually signed a $330 million cheque, notably Harper’s 2019 $330 million contract with the Philadelphia Phillies. He then waved bye to Harper and ran away with Harper chasing him around the field as per the MLB official site.
