Chicago White Sox v Detroit Tigers
Chicago White Sox

The Chicago White Sox are one of the Major League Baseball (MLB) teams representing the city of Chicago in the United States. Originally formed in 1894, they were a minor league team called the Sioux City Cornhuskers before they relocated to St. Paul, Minnesota, and finally came to Chicago in 1900 and renamed themselves as the Chicago White Stockings until 1903. From 1904 onwards, they called themselves the Chicago White Sox. Representing the American League (AL), they are also called “The South Siders” to distinguish themselves from their National League (NL) rivals, the Chicago Cubs, “the North Siders”.

The Chicago White Sox has since then gone on to win the MLB World Series titles three times, the American League Championship Series (ALCS) titles seven times, and the American League Division Series (ALDS) title once as of 2024. Meanwhile, in between these achievements, the team also had to face the “Black Sox Scandal” in which eight players of the team were banned for losing the 1919 World Series purposefully in exchange for money. However, the team has managed to move past such low points in their history and has gained popularity among the fans again in present times. The team finished the 2024 MLB season ranking fifth in the AL Central Division and with a record of 41-121-0.
