In the early days, Carroll was a member of the United States 18U National Team, which won gold in the 2018 COPABE Pan-American Championships. Carroll went to Washington's Lakeside School. He hit .540 with nine home runs and an OPS of 1.859 as a senior in 2019. He was then drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2019 and played with their minor teams. He made his Major League Baseball debut in 2022 and was selected as an All-Star in 2023
