Hailing from Caracas, Venezuela, Gleyber David Torres joined the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB) for the 2025 season. Also known as Gleyber Torres, he represented the New York Yankees for seven years, from April 2018 to 2024. He first arrived in the MLB with the Chicago Cubs in 2013 but was traded to the New York Yankees in 2016. He eventually made his MLB debut for the Yankees on April 22, 2018.

Gleyber Torres participated in his first MLB World Series game in 2024 with the New York Yankees against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Moreover, he has also been a two-time MLB All-Star player and has won two AL All-Star Awards in his career as of January 2025. Besides, he was also named the AL Rookie of the Month in April 2018.
