Formerly known as the Houston Colt .45s, the Houston Astros are one of the most popular teams in MLB. The team was formed in 1962 as a result of an expansion in the league. The team was initially a member of the National League (NL) and had represented both the NL West Division and the NL Central Division in the league.

The Houston Astros joined the American League (AL) in 2013 and has since then been a member of the AL West Division. The team has won titles in both the National League (NL) and the American League (AL). They have been using Minute Maid Park as their home ground for games since 2000. The Houston Astros are also notable rivals of the Texas Rangers and both teams host the Lone Star Series. They also have rivalries with the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Houston Astros had achieved a record of 90-72-0 with a rank of #1 in the AL West Division in 2023.
