The Houston Astros are a professional baseball team based in Houston, Texas, competing in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member of the American League (AL) West Division as of 2025. Founded in 1962 as the Houston Colt .45s, the team changed its name to the Astros in 1965 to reflect Houston's connection to the space industry. They played their home games at Colt Stadium from 1962 to 1964, then at the Astrodome from 1965 to 1999, and since 2000, the Houston Astros have been playing their home games at Daikin Park.
The Astros have won multiple AL pennants and secured their first World Series championship in 2017, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers, followed by another title in 2022 against the Philadelphia Phillies. As of the 2024 MLB season, the Houston Astros have won 4 American League pennants, 1 National League pennant, 7 AL West Division titles, 4 NL Central Division titles, and 4 Wild Card berths.
