Joe Musgrove is an American professional Major League Baseball pitcher who as of October 2024, plays for the San Diego Padres. Musgrove was born on December 4, 1992, in El Cajon, California, U.S. He started playing baseball at the age of seven. Musgrove attended Grossmont High School in El Cajon. In 2010, Musgrove had an outstanding record of 11 wins and 1 loss, along with an ERA of 2.07 with 70 strikeouts while he was in high school. He also was an amazing batter with an average of .430, hitting nine home runs and driving in 35 runs.

These impressive performances led to Musgrove getting picked as the 46th overall pick in the first round in the 2011 MLB draft by the Toronto Blue Jays. Musgrove spent the following years honing his skills across minor leagues. He finally debuted in the Major Leagues with the Astros in 2016. The pitcher also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates before he started playing for the San Diego Padres in 2021. Musgrove was an All-Star in 2022 and was a World Series champion in 2017 with the Astros. Additionally, Musgrove was tutored by his distant relative, Dominick Johnson, who is the son of Major League Baseball player Deron Johnson.
