Jonathan Joseph India was born on December 15, 1996, in Fort Lauderale, Florida, U.S. He is an American Major League Baseball infielder for the Cincinnati Reds.

India was a standout pitcher for American Heritage School.He was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 26th round of the 2015 MLB drafts, but instead chose to attend the University of Florida where he played College Baseball for the Floida Gators Team. India made it to the major leagues in 2021 with the Cincinnati Reds and was named National League Rookie of the Year. The Cincinnati Reds announced on March 31, 2021, that India would make his major league debut on Opening Day 2021 after being selected to the team due to a successful spring training performance. He has a career batting average of .255, 48 runs and 171 RBIs (As of October 2023).

It should come as no surprise that Jonathan was a Gators supporter growing up. His parents would dress him up in Gators gear, hoping to see their kid embody the iconic blue and white colors as he grew up, and Jonathan did just that. His younger sister Tori India is a design coordinator for ETHOS Event Collective. Tori is three years younger than her brother. She is a graduate from the Univesity of Central Florida earning her degree in Public Relations and Communication in 2021. She has also worked with the famous makeup brand Maybelline.

John India was on his way to becoming an MLB great before being Mr. Florida in 1984-AAU-HeavyWeight Champion. However, a quarrel between John India and his coach caused him to leave the game. The New York native despised the idea of having to try out for the varsity squad because he believed his talent was far superior.

He may not have been a baseball great himself, but he was determined to make his kid a household name in the sport. He began training Jonathan when he was two years old, and the father-son combo practiced in their backyard until 2019.

Despite his inability to experience success on the mound, John saw his desire realized via his kid. After being named NL Rookie of the Year, Jonathan signed a baseball and gave it to his father. He currently lives in Coral Springs, Florida, with Elizabeth, and enjoys seeing his kid play at the Great American Ball Park.
