The Milwaukee Brewers team was established in 1969, it was an expansion team from Seattle, Washington. The team’s original name was the Seattle Pilots and played in the American League (AL) West Division. However, only after one season in the league, the team went bankrupt and had to be sold to Bud Selig.

After Selig acquired the team he moved its home from Seattle to Milwaukee. They adapted the name of Milwaukee Brewers which they still use. The team stayed in the West Division of the American League till 1971. Then the team moved to the East Division and played in this Division from 1972 to 1993. Later, the team again moved, this time to the Central Division. They stayed in this Division from 1994 to 1997. In 1998, the team was transferred to the National League. The team has been playing in the Central Division since becoming a part of the National League.

The current owner of the Milwaukee Brewers is Mark Attanasio. He is the principal owner of the team. Attanasio was born in The Bronx, New York, U.S. on September 29, 1957. He completed his high school schooling in Tenafly, New Jersey, and went on to complete his Bachelor's degree in Arts from Brown University. Attanasio also has a Doctor of Law (J.D) from Columbia Law School. Attanasio acquired the team in 2004 from Bud Selig and became the principal owner of the team. The estimated price that he bought the team for was $223 million.
